Board Member Spotlight: Karla Escobar

We’ve been working through our team profiles, and today we have, Karla Escobar, our Media and PR Relations Manager . Karla is an energetic, loving, creative force on the Project Lead Kindly Board, and we are blessed to have her!

Why did you choose to join Project Lead Kindly and serve as a board/team member?
I've always been involved in philanthropy, donating goods to Veterans, volunteering in Mexico, even doing a casino night for my sorority to raise funds for St. Jude Children's Hospital, but being able to work yearly and closely alongside a charity that gives back to women and children while partnering with other amazing organizations was a level of involvement I always wanted to when Pamela presented the opportunity I couldn't say no.

How do you lead kindly in your everyday life?
I try to lead kindly in my daily life by smiling every chance I get and asking those around me if they need anything whether it’s a glass of water, encouragement, or just someone to listen to.

Who is your kindness role model?
My kindness role model is Pamela. I've known her since we were kids, and she has always been selfless is everything she does, including starting this charity out of pure love and passion for giving back to others.

What other passions do you have?
I have a passion for reading books, one of my favorites is "Love in the Time of Cholera" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I also love cooking and baking, especially chocolate chip cookies. I also love traveling and learning about art and history.

What do you do as Media and PR Relations Manager?
As a board member I'm in charge of our media and press relations. Making sure we get the word out there about major projects, like the DTLA Women's Shelter Project of 2016, by communications and reaching out to press and media outlets throughout the SoCal.

If you could leave one mark on the world, what would it be?
I want to make a positive influence on people’s lives by creating a better world than how I received it, how I will do it, I'm not sure yet, there are no limits and PLK is a great start....
